Reiki Defined

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese words "rei" (universal) and "ki" (life energy). Reiki is a type of energy healing that can help alleviate physical, emotional, mental and spiritual stress. It is a way to remove energy blockages to improve the flow of energy in and around the body. Reiki is a gentle and safe healing practice.

What to expect at a Reiki session?

The recipient will lie on a table, fully clothed and covered with a sheet or light blanket with soothing music playing softly in the background. This can be modified to suit the recipient's preference or needs.

The practitioner places their hands lightly on or over specific areas of the head, limbs, and torso using different hand shapes, for between 2 and 5 minutes. 

While the practitioner holds their hands lightly on or over the body, the transfer of energy takes place. During this time, the practitioner's hands may be warm and tingling. Each hand position is held until the practitioner senses that the energy has stopped flowing. The practitioner will remove their hands and may place them over a different area of the body. During the session the recipient may feel heat or cooling, some might feel tingling, some might not feel anything at all. The recipient may "see" different colors or experience "visions" or travel back in time.

Almost all, feel a deep sense of relaxation that permeates their whole being.
